After escaping to the rooftop with EmCee T265 found inspiration for the first time in years. Now after scribbling her soul out she could barely contain the excitement it awakened. What else could the day bring her? Could it be possible that something new could be starting?

The vibration of the tires on the highway soothed the preemptive ache of T265’s muscles. The morning sun shone upon the route back to Califax Ranch, while she kept drifting back to the words she scribbled on the rooftop.
Her fingers tapped the contraband notebook inside her pocket in an effort to quiet its siren call. The effervescent sensation throughout her body made the prospect of hauling more stones nothing more than a mild annoyance.
The glimmers of possibility enticed her into emotional pathways that were overgrown from years of neglect. The notions awakened by her own words burst forth from her head and danced with a clarity that felt like it came from a Goddess.Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when published
Sit in this moment…
Stretch your arms,
Your body
Naked in his eyes.
The kiss of the sun
Warm air on naked skin,
Taboo in its seduction.
An existence
Free of confines
Restraint
Cloth and metal.
Throw off your trappings
Remove your chains
Leave your prison behind
Feel sensual gilded kisses,
The tongue of Sol,
Caress your body
Urging you to slide
Out of your garment,
Woo both man and woman
Gently slip out of your clothes
Expose your deeper truth
To its sight.
Allow enjoyment,
Its touch.
With hands and mouth
Over your body.
Touching places within
Long forgotten or never met.
Its heat purifies the soiled
Hurry, and release yourself.
Live in abandon!
If only for a moment.
Return to the trappings
Of yesterday,
When you entered this realm.
Even then
Light awakened you.
Do not ignore
Its calls to you.
Now,
Enjoy the dance.
It was a dance. A sumptuous decadence she buried deep when they threw her within those walls, and ripped her apart in an effort to torture the femininity out of her. Something wove through those words though, an echo of someone she used to love.
A slumbering giant within her stuttered back to life and she began to believe that no walls could ever hold her again. Even confined, there was no limit to what she could do.
Even wedged between two Is, a sense of peace and freedom rested in her chest. The oppression that carried her the past five years sat on a tiny shelf in her mind without defiance. The pleasant cadence created by Spanish whispers throughout the cabin kept her at ease.
Most of the Is went to the ranches, not much of a surprise that racial stereotypes lived well in the Warden. Taking after her Mexican mother, T265 went to the fields as well, which turned her honey-colored skin into a darker shade of umber. Even though she looked like most of the Is, she would never be one of them. Still, even being the outcast couldn’t ruin her mood that morning.
A riotous clatter cut through the bus when the heavy-set CO slammed the butt of his rifle against the metal grate that separated him from the prisoners.
“What you smiling about?” he shouted.
T265 caught his stare and forced a frown until he looked away. Her focus returned beyond the window, and she wished everyone could feel the way she did in that moment. If that could happen, maybe things could be better.
A shred of her wanted to believe it could, but it stayed just beneath the surface like a splinter in her skin. She mused on the familiarity of the sensation until it clicked in the same way she’d remember the name of a song whose melody plagued her in the past.
It was hope.
